Sadly, Vince, I have to say that in certain parts of Canada some environmental groups go up in arms against mining projects. I have two examples of opposition to the mining industry from British Columbia. A recent article in a local newspaper the Georgia Straight reported on environmentalists who are opposing mine development projects in the province. Mind you these are proposals for mineral exploration and mining projects that are a long way from even being built. This is the link to the article:

http://www.straight.com/article-546376/vancouver/mining-accountability

I have personally seen so called "Enviromentalists" claim an authority and power that they do not have. At the Annual General Meeting of a major Vancouver based copper, gold, and silver producing company, a woman stood up and said she was protesting the company's mine development project on British Columbia's northern coast. She said we the people of the community and first nations groups oppose this proposed project. She went to say a mine in the area would destroy the natural beauty of the area for 30 years or more.

Well the chief and members of the First Nations group from the community in question were also in attendance at this meeting. He spoke up and said emphatically this woman does not represent us or our views on the project.

Also the President and CEO of the mining company stated that the company listened to the community's demands and have no intention of building a mine in that area.

My feeling is that in British Columbia there are two different communities. The urban B. C. where people live in plush condos or communities and don't have to work for a living. Then there is rural B.C. where people do hard heavy, and physically demanding work in the forestry, paper, mining, and fishing industries. There are those who have moved from elsewhere to B.C. for its natural beauty but have no idea that people in the rural communities of the province have few employment options except work in the natural resource industries.

Also due to the drastic government policies provincial government in the 1970s B.C.'s mining in most areas of the province was brought to a standstill. The development of the mining industry in this province has fallen far behind that in other provinces. This has essentially has put the many of province's rural communities in an economic depression for the past 30 years. Stifling further development of the province's resource industries will push many rural communities into long term unemployment and poverty. I think it is better for people in these communities to have meaningful, well paid, full-time jobs than live on public assistance for life.

It is better for these communities to have economic diversity with mining as one of many industries actively operating in the area. This provides an economic cushion for these areas so if one industry such as pulp/paper production is on the decline people can find employment in another sector.

Vince, I have agree with on being cautious of certain management and stock promoters. I know of one stock promoter that has a knack for working for companies that have a quick rise to the top then go bankrupt. I contacted a local reporter and he showed me this person has long history of this kind of work that goes back as far as the last 15 years.

I also wanted to mention that David Baines of the Vancover Sun newspaper does great coverage of the shady companies and promoters on the Toronto Venture Exchange. I I also you suggest if you have questions or doubts about a particular venture listed company you want want to contact him for more information. You can find his blog the "Howe Street Files" at:

Very interesting development today. Imperial Metals Corporation (III) has just announced they will do a 2 for 1 stock split on December 1, 2011. A company may do a stock split fund to the acquisition of another company.

I think Banks Island Gold Ltd. (BOZ) is a company they are looking at. BOZ has a Joint Venture with Imperial Metals on the Banks Island gold deposit. The share price of BOZ has jumped up by 20% to .60 per share with no news release from the company. Vince, I think you may have found a hidden gem in this stock.

Hi Wordly Trader,

I had planned on making BOZ one of my featured companies in the December "Under the Rocks" report when they were trading under $.35. I didn't think they would go up so far so fast. I like to get people in on the ground floor BEFORE a run-up. I love their prospects.
